If you have already decided to give this procedure a try for the treatment of uterine fibroids, we share some recommendations and information about the procedure:
The Consultation
Before your appointment at MSC Miomasincirugia, we will take images of the uterus using pelvic MRI or pelvic ultrasound to make sure fibroids are present and those fibroids are the cause of your symptoms. Imaging studies help us to evaluate the size, number, and location of the fibroids. If bleeding is a major symptom, an endometrial biopsy may be done to rule out cancer.
Hospitalization
The arrival time will change according to your schedule in the hemodynamics room of the hospital of your choice. Once you have your appointment, we will tell you what time you will arrive at your MSC Miomasincirugia consultation.
Food
The night before your procedure do not eat solid foods, candy, or gum after 11 p.m., otherwhise will have to be reschedule.
Beverages
The night before your procedure drink only clear liquids after 10 p.m. Stay hydrated by drinking one to two large glasses every 1 to 2 hours while you're awake. Four hours before your procedure you should no longer drink anything.
Medicine
If you are prescribed medication for any other illness, take your regularly scheduled medications with a little water. If you are currently taking blood-thinning medications, such as Coumadin ®, Eliquis ® or Plavix ®, please call your referring physician to discuss the possibility of discontinuing medications at least five days prior to your procedure.
Pregnancy
Please let us know if there is any chance you could be pregnant. Pregnancy is a direct contraindication to perform MSC Miomasincirugia UFE.
Follow all recommendations described above so your procedure does not present any risk, if any doubt, contact us.
