MyomasUTERINE FIBROIDS: THE IMPORTANCE OF TIMELY CARE
Uterine fibroids are tumors that grow in a woman's womb (uterus). These tumors are usually benign, not cancerous.
The uterus usually has multiple fibroids, it can have many fibroids in different stages of development and degeneration. Cases have been found of women with multiple fibroids presenting from 2 or 3 fibroids to several hundred fibroids.
Only 2% of women with fibroids have solitary fibroids. These unique fibroids manage to have large dimensions.
Some single fibroids or fibroids that coexist with multiple fibroids, if they are not treated promptly, can reach a large size, there are reports of some fibroids whose weight has exceeded 45 kg.
Timely Attention
Timely attention of myomatosis is essential. In the case of fibroids, whether single fibroids or multiple fibroids, it is considered a low-risk disease, and on many occasions, unfortunately, they are not treated in a timely manner, the delay in care leads to secondary complications in the patient, which damage your quality of life.
Therefore, it is of vital importance and it is highly recommended to have timely attention when detecting the first symptoms of fibroids.
Complications:
The main complications of fibroids include:
-Severe pain or excessively heavy bleeding that may require uterine fibroid embolization or urgent surgery, which increases the risks for the woman.
-Excessive volume increase that causes renal alterations, urinary urgency and constipation.
-Twisting of the fibroid, causing a blockage in nearby blood vessels supplying the tumor (surgery may be needed if this happens).
-Increase in the volume of menstrual flow.
-Increase in the number of days where the patient persists with menstrual flow.
-Anemia (not having enough red blood cells) secondary to heavy bleeding and an increase in the number of days of the menstrual period.
-Constant fatigue, lack of energy in the patient.
-Presence of palpitations (tachycardia) when performing physical activities.
-Urinary infections. If the fibroid presses on the bladder, this can make it difficult to empty it completely. If urine stays in the bladder too long, an infection can develop.
-Sterility due to the presence of fibroids.
Other complications
If the woman is pregnant, there is a risk that fibroids can cause complications. These complications include:
-You may give birth prematurely, because there is not enough space in the uterus.
